Born Free

Originally written for Siv Ngesi, this stand-up piece reflecting on twenty years of democracy was performed by Daniel Richards, our first collaboration. It premiered at the Kalfiefees in Hermanus in 2014.

Introduction

Siv Ngesi commissioned this piece of stand-up comedy to coincide with the 20^th anniversary of South Africa’s democracy. Then he was invited to participate in Strictly Come Dancing and could no longer do the play. It was then that we recruited Daniel Mpilo Richards to do the show, and that is where our relationship for the next three shows started.
