Zoom discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals and Culture

British Council research on culture as the missing pillar of development.

The British Council commissioned research on the cultural dimension of development and more particularly on the apparent absence of culture as the fourth (missing) pillar of development.  The three other pillars are deemed to be economic, social and ecological but despite numerous consultations, conferences, papers and advocacy, culture continues to be ignored as a factor in contemporary development strategies.  The researchers invited 'experts' to a reflect on the research that had been done to date.  Disappointingly, it appears that the same debates and arguments that I was part of when running Arterial Network from 2007-2013, are still being had with little progress having been made.
