What we wish for was presented as a staged reading for subscribers to the STAND Foundation

One of the benefits of subscribing to the STAND Foundation is a monthly invitation to the staged reading of a new play.  Subscribers are able to listen to and watch a script coming to life with actors, and are then invited to give feedback to the play (the writer, director, etc) afterwards.  This was an opportunity to present What We Wish For to an audience after its premiere was cancelled when the Fugard Theatre was shut as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Directed by Greg Karvellas - the former artistic director of the Fugard Theatre - it was most useful for me to 'hear' the play as part of its development.  It will be reworked in the light of the feedback and my own perception of its deficiencies, with a view to staging a full production when theatres reopen safely.
