University of Free State stages Elusive Spring

The end-of-year production staged by second-year students at the UFS was my play, Elusive Spring, which has never been staged before.

I spent three pleasant days at the University of Free State in Bloemfontein from 3-5 November.  The main reason was to see the production of my play Elusive Spring which the director, Adriaan de Ridder had chosen, not least because of the number of roles in the play that offered opportunities to a large cast.  (This is probably also the reason why the play has not been done in cash-strapped South African theatres).

I also gave a lecture on arts management and spent some time engaging with lecturers who feel that they are a little outside the main areas of theatre activity.

It was also a chance to meet the new management of the Vrystaat Arts Festival and to brainstorm future projects with them.
