The Personal, the Political and the Poetry
The Stage 4 Solo Festival along the Garden Route would host a session in which I would talk about my work as a playwright and read some of my poetry. On the evening of 17 June, I hosted a little rehearsal for invited guests - subscribers and Angels mainly - at the NGK Hall in Kloof Street, Cape Town. The hall belongs to the Groote Kerk where the dominee, Riaan de Villiers, is playing a progressive role. He has always wanted the hall to be used as a pop-up theatre and after meeting him when he attended a reading of Abraham's Promises, we tested the hall with two performances of My Fellow South Africans. He generously made available another space - an upstairs lounge - for the rehearsal of The Personal, the Political and the Poetry with 30 people attending on a wintry evening. A very affirming experience!
