STIAS Fellowship ends
Fellowship ends in Lockdown Level 3
My fellowship at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study ended officially on 12 June. Originally scheduled from 13 January to 12 June, the COVID-19 lockdown meant that the fellows had to leave the premises at the end of March, and those who were still in the country, were allowed back for the last two weeks of the semester. I had intended to work on my novel, Elusive Spring, during the fellowship, but the lockdown was not exactly conducive to creativity. In essence, I experienced less than half of the fellowship, which was a shame as the conditions in Stellenbosch were really very special with international fellows, great facilities at STIAS and the town was very liveable.
