STAND hosts first webinar

New arguments for dance and theatre in a time of COVID-19

I facilitated the first webinar hosted by the newly-launched STAND Foundation on Tuesday 29 September on the theme New Arguments in Support of Theatre and Dance in our Contemporary World.  We invited speakers from Rwanda, Ecuador and India, as well as a South African choreographer now resident in France - Vincent Mantsoe - as well as Yvette Hardie, the South African international president of ASSITEJ to participate in the discussion.  Moving beyond the usual emphasis on the economic importance of the arts, a key theme repeated throughout the webinar was the relevance of the arts to health, not just individual emotional and psychological well-being, but also to the health of societies as a whole.
