Shocked performed at the Denis Goldberg House of Hope

Another opportunity to grow the confidence of the actor

I serve as a Board member of the Denis Goldberg House of Hope, a legacy project of the Rivonia Trialist to Hout Bay to serve as a vehicle to upskill marginalised children and bridge racial and other divides within the broader community.  It is a beautiful building designed by another trustee, Jo Noero and it is slowly building a reputation within Hout Bay.  With Shocked available as a production, I took the opportunity to present it to some of my 'theatre angels' for feedback and to raise funding for a sustained run.  After the performance, we screened the short movie Some Mothers' Sons based on another of my plays.  Again, I and Kim were encouraged by the warm responses of the attendees (even if many of whom are friends!!) to the work.  It is a versatile piece that could be performed in just about any setting.
