During my Feb-May writer's residency at the University of the Free State, I updated my 2014 script of Return of the Ancestors which marked 20 years of democracy to 2024, thereby marking three decades since the 1994 elections.  For the official launch of the residency, two actors - Rondo Mpiti-Spies and Oliver Bongo - were to read three scenes under the direction of UFS Drama Lecturer, Walter Strydom.  However, they learned all the lines and presented the scenes so beautifully, that I invited them to rehearse the full piece with a view to touring it to other parts of the country.  Just before he was about to leave to do his doctorate in Canada, Walter invited me to see their work on 28 August.  I flew to Bloemfontein and watched a performance along with students, staff and three judges from the Appeals Court in Bloemfontein!  We were all most impressed!!
