I'm trying my hand at being a director

In the build up to the elections in May 2024, I've compiled a set of sketches from previous works with Daniel Richards and Rob van Vuuren - Pay Back the Curry, State Fracture and Land Acts - and have updated them where necessary. They'll be presented as My Fellow South Africans which takes its name from the opening of Ramaphosa's 'family meetings' during the COVID pandemic. Auditions were held in the last week of January and we started rehearsals at ARTSCAPE on Monday 6 Feb with a young performer (I thought I would direct the piece). After four days of making good progress, the performer informed me that he was withdrawing as the piece was too political for him to be associated with it at this point in his career. So, the search for a new actor begins. Again! Do watch out for My Fellow South Africans...it will be 60 minutes of catharsis for the beleaguered citizens of our beloved country.
