New Script Pet-Friendly comes to the stage
Pet humour and pets as metaphors for social commentary
Marty Kintu performed my first piece of 'stand-up commentary' - using stand-up techniques to make social commentary - in The New Abnormal, a solo piece that sought to address the post-COVID era.
Marty has the first public outing of my latest piece of stand-up commentary - Pet-Friendly - at the Hope Bar in Park Street on Tuesday 24 February. Using people's love for animals as an 'in', Pet-Friendly draws parallels and contradictions in the way that as humans respond to other human beings, and to children in particular, especially children who don't look like us. The audience was warm and generous in their responses, and provided great feedback that will help with the further development of the piece.
