Naledi Theatre Awards
My play, Return of the Ancestors, nominated in the Naledi Theatre Awards
The Naledi Theatre Awards recognises the best theatre productions staged during the previous year in Gauteng. With COVID-19 having curtailed many theatre productions, the Naledi Theatre judges decided to honour productions - both physical and online - from the beginning of the lockdown. Return of the Ancestors, my play about Steve Biko and Neil Aggett returning to South Africa after twenty years of democracy to see if their sacrifices of the elders had been worth it, was produced by a young company that had its run cut short by the lockdown. Now the play had garnered four nominations including BEST NEW SCRIPT, earning my ninth nomination in this Naledi Theatre Awards category, the most by any playwright.
