Naledi Nomination for Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Metaphors
The play I was commissioned to write by the Drama Department of the University of Pretoria in 2019 has been nominated for a Naledi Award.
I was an artist-in-residence at the University of Pretoria in the first semester of 2019, with a brief to write a play on the theme of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Metaphors was the result; it premiered at the National Arts Festival in July last year, and won a Standard Bank Ovation Award. It was performed subsequently at the Hilton Arts Festival and then in Gaborone, Botswana. A media release issued by the Naledi Theatre Awards on the Easter weekend, indicated that the play was nominated as one of five in the Best Production Tertiary/Incubator Theatre category.
