MOT International Theatre Festival, North Macedonia

I met Biljana Tanurovska, a mover and shaker in the Macedonian independent arts scene, at the Belgrade International Theatre Festival in 2017 where we both presented papers at a conference on theatre and its cultural diplomacy role in geo-politics.  Two years later, she invited me to present a paper on Theatre and Cultural Policy in Post-Apartheid South Africa as part of the MOT International Theatre Festival in Skopje.  I have also had the opportunity to meet a range of individuals engaged in the independent arts space in this Eastern European country, and there is so much that we - in Africa - have in common with our colleagues in the Balkans.  Here's to future collaborations!
