Luz Verde staged in Buenos Aires

Green Man Flashing - winner of the English leg of the Theatre in Translation competition - was staged in Buenos Aires on 27 November 2012.

Green Man Flashing won the South African leg of the Argentinian-South African Theatre in Translation project, the brainchild of Nikki Froneman, a South African who lived for five years in the theatrically vibrant city of Buenos Aires.  As part of its prize, the play was translated into Spanish (under the title Luz Verde) and was performed with a locally based cast in Buenos Aires on 27 November 2012.  The South African Embassy provided some funding for the production which was well-received by the audience, and which generated good discussions with people after the show, and in subsequent talks about contemporary South African theatre.

Buenos Aires has more than 200 theatres and it can be a major springboard for South African/African theatre into the sophisticated Latin American theatre market.
