Launch of Community Arts Centres Network of the Western Cape

The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) commissioned STAND Foundation for which I serve as the Coordinator, to undertake research into the state of community arts centres in the province.  Based on this research, STAND was contracted by the national Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) to deliver a number of objectives in improving the sector.  This included launching a network of community arts centres to advocate for the sector.  On 8-9 April, 16 centres from across the 6 districts in the province launched the Community Arts Centres Network of the Western Cape at the POP Centre in Prince Albert.  STAND Foundation organised and facilitated the launch that elected a 6-person Steering Committee to drive it.
