John Maytham reads new play

John Maytham, Cape Talk presenter and actor, commissioned me to write him a one-person play.  To Life, With Love is the result and as part of its development, we had the first reading of the script for an audience of 65 people at Toneelhuis in Bree Street, Cape Town on Sunday 27 October.  Nancy Richards facilitated a post-play discussion that focused on the themes (ageing, mental wellness, end-of-life decisions, living meaningfully, etc) as well as the tone and form of the piece.  From the responses, it is clear that the play has legs, with a strong suggestion that it continues to be done as a reading.
