#Im4theArts started as a Facebook group after opera singer wrote an open letter to the minister responsible for arts and culture, outlining some of the challenges faced by people working with the sector.  The group grew rapidly attracting thousands of members within a short period, and soon the need for formalising the online group into a vehicle for advocacy, emerged.  I initially declined overtures to serve on the Working Group (since I'd decided to step back from networks earlier this year to concentrate on my creative and academic projects) but agreed to join since there was clearly a need for organisational experience within the Working Group.  I am now working with others to bring about the most appropriate structure for 'the movement', and hope to be out of here by the end of June!
