Rehearsal for new one-person collection of sketches

With Daniel Richards having left to study film in the United Kingdom, I was keen to find a young performer to do the kind of work that I had done with him - satirical, multi-sketch commentary on contemporary South African themes. I was introduced to Nancy Sekhokoane, a graduate of AFDA Cape Town, and the 2019 Fleur du Cap winner of the Best Student Award. I put together a script comprising sketches of various woman characters culled from the Bafana Republic franchise as well as the three shows I did with Daniel for Nancy to perform. She is being directed in #Hehaditcoming by Faniswa Yisa in this piece which just happens to resonate with current themes of gender-based violence and Afrophobia. It will be presented at the University of Pretoria, funders of the work, in October this year. By the time I watched a rehearsal on 5 September, Nancy had already learned all her lines....
