Future Africa seminar on culture and governance
Monthly series of seminars at Future Africa on culture and its relationship with some aspect of social and political life
As part of my residency at the University of Pretoria, I hosted a series of monthly seminars on culture which provided me with the discipline and impetus to do more reading, thinking and writing around the theme. For the seminars, I research and write a paper, forward this to respondents beforehand, and then present a summary of the paper at the seminar, with the respondents critiquing it. For this seminar on culture and governance, Shane Maja of Gauteng's Department of Sport, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Ngwatle, a development specialist at Wits University and Hedda Krausz, Counsellor for Culture at the Swedish Embassy, served as respondents.
