What did the recent, 2019 National Arts Festival say about the state of the country?

As part of the Kopanong Student Arts Festival, I hosted a public forum - mainly aimed at the drama students - on the 2019 National Arts Festival and what it reflected about the country.  Keamogetswe Moeketsane, a producer at the State Theatre and theatre-maker, Kirsten Harris, were the panellists who catalysed an engaging discussion.  Some of the key themes were the decline in audiences, the high costs of artists' participation and the crumbling Makhanda infrastructure.
