Farewell and introduction
My farewell lunch at the Robert Bosch Academy was on 14 December, the same day as I introduced my theatre work to local audiences.
My residency had less to do with my theatre work and more to do with cultural policy, leadership training and social activism. However, on the last day of my formal residency, I was able to present extracts from my plays as well as the full screening of Some Mothers' Sons to a Berlin audience. Germany's theatre traditions are different to ours, and it was a good opportunity to engage in conversation with a young dramaturge as part of the evening. It was also a good opportunity to connect with theatre-makers in the city, particularly those from migrant communities who are struggling to find a space for their work in the city.
