Awards

In March, 'Brothers in Blood' – my play about Jewish, Muslim and Christian relations commissioned by the Charles Diamond Foundation and the Market Theatre – won the Naledi Theatre Award for 'Best New South African Play Produced'. My most recent play – 'Iago’s Last Dance,' that deals with the HIV/AIDS pandemic – was also nominated in the recent Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards ‘Best New Script’ category.

In 2009, I was honoured to win the prestigious Fleur du Cap Best New Script Award for my play, Die Generaal which explores the impact of violent crime on race relations in South Africa. This year, I was delighted to receive two nominations for me plays.

The challenge now is to translate this critical recognition into financial sustainability by building a sound local market and by projecting these works into the international arena.
