Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) Workshop

AFAC invited me to facilitate two sessions as part of the second round of their Arts and Culture Entrepreneurship Course in Beirut from 15-18 August 2022.

I participated in the first AFAC workshop on creative entrepreneurship in 2018 after which COVID largely accounted for a break of a few years.  I was delighted then to be invited to participate in the 2022-23 cycle.  Nineteen participants from 11 Arab countries participated in the event.  I was invited to present a session on lessons that could be learned from the South African experience and another on international cultural policies and their relevance to cultural practice in the Arab region.  It was both refreshing and stimulating to meet the participants and the other facilitators as well as being in Beirut, a most vibrant city.
